I was walking through the streets of Madiwala when I saw many stars lightened up in front of houses.Christmas time...
the birth of Jesus Christ,a time for celebration..food,fun,gifts,cards...
It brought me back the memories of my childhood. We used to eagerly wait to complete the 'Half-yearly' exams, pack our bags and
go to our native. The sense of exicitment of meeting our cousins(a batch of 12!!!) used to send butterflies in our stomach.
While me any my cousins used to be busy in decorating the tree and crib,my Mother and aunties used to prepare the best of food.
The lucky person to cut the cake was either picked from the chits or the youngest person. And then comes the little religious flavour of the Christmas..attending
the 24th mid-night mass in the best of your attire and in a shivvering cold.It often starts at 10:00 PM and continues till 12:00 in the morning.Christmas Carols like
"Jingle bells...","Its Mary's boy child,Jesus Christ..." are sung. This is followed by wishing each other and gifts exchange.
The celebration used to continue on 25th with lunch served with all delicacies.
"jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh"..echoed through the air and brought me back to this world.
Though I am in Bangalore..562 Km away from home..and wish to be at home..
So regardless of where you celebreate the season..I think its the spirit of joy,love,peace..that fill us a sense like no other...
Merry Chirtmas....
